Imported flat-pack furniture is almost always engineered for heated European apartments or climate-controlled North American suburbs. In Burundi, along Lake Tanganyika, and across the rolling hills of the Great Lakes region, that mismatch reveals itself quickly.

Within eighteen months, humidity cycles cause imported chipboard to swell, veneers to lift at the edges, and brittle cam-lock fasteners to loosen. When a joint fails on an import, replacement hardware is rarely obtainable locally.

Local manufacturing approaches the challenge from the opposite direction: we anticipate humidity, heat, and heavy daily use before cutting the first timber plank.
